The 2018 NBA Draft is fast approaching and Michael Porter Jr.'s value is quickly rising as each day passes. The latest to vouch for him is Los Angeles Lakers guard Isaiah Thomas.

Thomas said via Twitter that Porter Jr. is the best player in the upcoming NBA draft:

Porter Jr. was already considered a top prospect back in high school. But a back injury hampered his chances, though he believes that his skills are very much intact. Per NBA.com, Porter Jr. said recently that he now has to work on more exercises. But there's no risk of reinjuring his back, according to a recent MRI:

“It was a very minimally invasive surgery. They just had to fix the discs, take about 10 percent off that nerve and they said, after I got an MRI, that it has healed fully,’’ he added. “I just have to keep up with my (leg) extensions, my core exercises and stretching. I have a great physical therapist and team working with me through the draft, and they’re making me feel better every day. The recent MRI was to see how it had fully healed. There’s no risk to reinjure it.’’

Analysts have placed Porter Jr. safely within the top 10 in their respective mock drafts. Some project him to fall within the top five, confident that his injury history won't hurt his value moving forward.

According to ESPN's Jonathan Givony, the Sacramento Kings (No. 2), Memphis Grizzlies (No. 4), and Dallas Mavericks (No. 5) are very interested in Porter.
