The Los Angeles Lakers never fail to surprise us. During the 2021 NBA draft, the Lakers sent shockwaves all around the world as they pulled off a blockbuster trade by acquiring former NBA MVP Russell Westbrook and two future second-rounders in exchange for Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell, and the 22nd first-round pick of the 2021 Draft.

The Lakers get what they need, a third option and a legit shot-creator.

The Lakers now have a scary trio in LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the newly acquired Russell Westbrook.

Seven-time All-Star, Former NBA Finals MVP, and Lakers legend James Worthy could not help but get excited about Westbrook's arrival in Los Angeles. In an interview with Spectrum SportsNet, the former Laker was asked about Westbrook's contribution on a nightly basis.

Worthy replied:

Attitude and Perseverance every night. He's not gonna give up, he's gonna put so much pressure on you… I don't think he makes defenses give up he just makes you say “I don't know what else to do”. He comes at you so hard every second he's on the play. He's a shot-maker, a closer, he could finish at the rim. I love his 15- foot range and the way that he can back you up and pull up. I also think he's led, did you see what he did with Washington this year? At the end of the season he was coming on strong and I just think he's a leader. He knows what LeBron wants. And LeBron's last few years, he knows Westbrook wants to win a championship. He gives you another closer, we got LeBron, AD, and now you have the trio together.

The Lakers legend certainly has high praise for Russell Westbrook.

Laker fans certainly can't wait to see what's in store for them next season.
