According to the Los Angeles Times’ Tania Ganguli, Los Angeles Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson has a few things motivating him this year. He’s using the constant trade rumors surrounding him as a motivating factor. He also claims family is his No. 1 reason for wanting to succeed. But at No. 2? Girls, of course.

“But second probably the girls and stuff. Females. Know what I mean? I love women.”

He chuckled mischievously as he added: “They don’t like you when you’re down.”

No one should be particularly surprised Clarkson has this mindset in him. This is a man who dated Kendall Jenner and was really tight with Nick Young, so the signs were definitely there.

Everyone’s got to have something motivating them. For teammate Lonzo Ball, it’s winning, even above personal accolades. And for Clarkson, it’s girls. A lot of other players probably share Clarkson’s sentiment; it’s just that he’s more honest and open about it, which is admirable in its own strange way.

To Clarkson’s credit, he is having a solid season thus far. He’s averaging 25.3 points per 36 minutes, which is far and away a career best. The same goes for his 50 percent field goal percentage and his 40 percent 3-point percentage. If his love of “females” is really a big reason for that production, then all power to him.
