The clock is slowly ticking away for the Los Angeles Lakers. Having struggled with injuries to multiple key players, the Lakers find themselves running out of time to reposition themselves ahead of the start of the postseason.
After losing to a Memphis Grizzlies team that has been spending quite a bit of time near the bottom of the Western Conference standings, Los Angeles pushed themselves further back up against the wall. Their 29-31 record has them sitting at 10th in the West and with some bleak playoff odds. BetOnline.ag has the Lakers as a -300 to make the playoffs and a +200 to miss out.

This is really bad news for LeBron James and the rest of this team. Not only are they having issues finding success on the court, there still seems to be some tense air within the locker room. After losing to the New Orleans Pelicans over the past weekend, both James and Kyle Kuzma spoke out about a lack of faith in the team’s sense of urgency,
For the Lakers to turn it around, they will need more than just James playing at the top of his game. Since returning from injury, he has played 8 games and has averaged 24.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 10.5 assists. However, the team has gone 3-5 in that stretch.
Lonzo Ball has missed significant time, as well. In 13 games he has been out since late January, Los Angeles has gone just 4-9. With the playoffs right around the corner, the Lakers’ margin of error is getting dangerously slim.
