Los Angeles Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo tagged LeBron James' scoring milestone as ‘unbelievable' given that the four-time MVP isn't even deemed as a scorer.
Rondo shared his thoughts prior to James' milestone of surpassing Michael Jordan and becoming the fourth all-time leading scorer in league history.
Rondo is in awe that James is in the list given that he's a pass-first type of player.
“He's not really a scorer,” Lakers teammate Rajon Rondo said of James, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “He's a facilitator. He's a maestro himself. He's an orchestrator. So, for him to be on that type of list, it's just unbelievable. I would say he does whatever his team needs, honestly. He scores, he passes, he rebounds, he blocks. He's a stat filler. And an intangible guy.
In addition, the 33-year-old offered some context on how great this feat is. To be on the all-time scoring list requires an elite level of consistency. And James is not just on the all-time scoring list. Per Rondo's observation, James seems to be on every list possible.
“So, to be on that type of list, it seems like he's on every list possible. That puts in perspective what he's done for the game and how much impact he has on the game each and every night he plays.”
Coming from Rondo, one of the smartest players in the league, these words certainly carry heft and credibility.
Love him or hate him, James will go down as one of the best to every dribble and shoot the basketball.
