Los Angeles Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka believes that they now have “the most dominant all-around young player” in the league. Pelinka is obviously not referring to LeBron James who is no longer in the young side. The second-year GM is talking about Anthony Davis.

“Anthony Davis is arguably the most dominant all-around young player in today's NBA,” Pelinka said in a statement posted on the league's official website. “Anthony represents everything we stand for, with his unwavering commitment to excellence as both a person and athlete. This is a historic moment for the Lakers franchise.”

Davis played 56 games for the Pelicans last season, where he averaged 25.9 points and a career-high 12.0 rebounds per game. Halfway through the season, the six-time NBA All-Star requested for a trade from the Pelicans.

The Lakers officially acquired the 26-year-old superstar in a trade involving the New Orleans Pelicans and the Washington Wizards on Saturday. In the deal, the Lakers lost Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, three first-round picks, Isaac Bonga, Jemerrio Jones, and Moritz Wagner, and a future second-round pick.

Los Angeles had to give up a lot to acquire Davis, but based on Pelinka's statement, he strongly believes that it is all worth it. Davis will be teaming up with fellow superstar LeBron James. He will also play with former Pelicans teammates DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo, who recently signed with the Lakers.
