Former NBA big man Kendrick Perkins has warned Russell Westbrook to be more careful navigating his career moving forward or he might end up like his Los Angeles Lakers teammate Carmelo Anthony.
Perkins' message comes in the wake of Westbrook parting ways with his longtime agent Thad Foucher, who cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the breakup. According to Foucher, he wanted Russ to stay in LA and “embrace” the starting role and support Darvin Ham has extended to him, but the general belief is that the explosive guard still wants out–a move that his now former agent believes will only diminish his value.
By the looks of it, Perkins seems to agree in part with Foucher. While he did not comment on his trade market, Big Perk did suggest that like Anthony, Westbrook might see himself out of the league and unsigned if he doesn't make the necessary sacrifices and buy into a system.

“With the firing of his agent, the final season of his contract, he has to be careful. We could possibly see Russell Westbrook going down the same path as Carmelo Anthony if he don't buy into being or taking a lesser role,” Perkins shared, via ClutchPoints Twitter.
Sure enough, Kendrick Perkins' take on the Lakers‘ Russell Westbrook situation is warranted, and he makes a good point with his Carmelo Anthony comparison. Sure those two situations are different, but they might lead to similar results: the player being largely snubbed in the league with little value.
It worked well for Anthony when he learned to accept a supporting role. Now, Westbrook might need to do the same or at least look at the bigger picture among all his options to determine the best move for him.
