Kobe Bryant has just added yet another award to his already long list of achievements. After winning almost everything the NBA has to offer, the former league MVP can now add an Oscar trophy to his collection, as his animated documentary. “Dear Basketball,” won in the short film category on Sunday.

The Black Mamba immediately received a lot of congratulatory messages from members of the basketball community. Many of them took to their social media accounts, particularly Twitter, to give their reactions to his win as well. That includes his former teammate with the Los Angeles Lakers, Shaquille O'Neal, who made it known how proud he is of him and even joked that he is jealous that he is now an Oscar-winner.

The two superstars won three championships together from 2000-02, and formed one of the best duos in NBA history. However, their partnership was also filled with drama, with their differences much publicized before. It also forced the Lakers to trade Shaq to the Miami Heat in 2004, which marked an end of an era for the franchise. Shaq went on to win one more title in South Beach, while Bryant added two more to his total with back-to-back wins in 2009 and 2010.

Kobe Bryant's triumph in the Oscars only proves that he is a winner in everything he does. It could also inspire other former and current NBA players to also pursue their interests in other fields. Like the former 18-time All-Star, they may also get into making documentaries, or anything they are passionate about, and receive an honor for it as well.
