Former NBA star Gary Payton gave some insight to the wave of free agency that will come down on July 1, with many big names bound to make major moves.

Among them is soon-to-be free agent Paul George, who has been rumored to consider the Los Angeles Lakers as a potential destination, along with fellow L.A. native Kawhi Leonard, who has had a reported falling out with the San Antonio Spurs over the course of last season.

“These guys want to go and play in front of their home towns and in front of their families,” said Payton of the two L.A. natives, according to ESPN Los Angeles.

It was Payton who gave the inside scoop on LeBron James' son having committed to play at Sierra Canyon High School alongside Scottie Pippen Jr. and K.J. Martin, son of former NBA star Kenyon Martin.

Payton, who played one of his last NBA seasons with the Lakers, has the pulse for these free agents and their potential destination, both being constantly linked to the purple-and-gold since the possibility became known.

The Lakers have the enviable position of being the lone team with a direct line to getting two max-level free agents, needing only for the ink to dry to make a new era of Showtime a reality.

More so than James, George and Leonard have the potential of playing next to their families in Los Angeles, while James would be doing so to follow his son's career up close if he indeeds chooses to join the celebrity-loaded Sierra Canyon roster for this next academic year.
