The Los Angeles Lakers got some much-needed words of encouragement from one of their best players of all-time during Game 5 of the NBA Finals versus the Miami Heat.

The legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sent out a spirited message to the entire Lakers nation, urging them to support the team as they played catch-up for the majority of Friday's match.

“It’s a tough game tonight Laker fans, but I’m pretty sure the Lakers will come back,” Abdul Jabbar said, as he was watching the game at his own home.

The Hall of Fame center cited his vast Finals experience, during which his own Lakers team was able to overcome massive deficits over bitter rivals Boston Celtics. Here's the full clip of Kareem's inspiring message:

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar certainly knows what he's talking about, having won five NBA titles for the Purple and Gold in the '80s. The Lakers headed to Game 5 just one win away from the 17th championship banner in franchise history, and Abdul-Jabbar knows this team has what it takes to make that into a reality.
