The charismatic, but ever so controversial LaVar Ball has not shied away from speaking his mind in the past. Ball made headlines with his comments about Michael Jordan, about Stephen Curry and the Warriors, and more recently Joel Embiid. However, he also made headlines with comments he made towards Kristine Leahy from The Herd.

After his son, Lonzo Ball, was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the second pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, LaVar famously stated they will make the playoffs next season with Lonzo running the point. On that same theme, during Lonzo's Summer League debut, LaVar continued with his predictions.

LaVar Ball stated that Lonzo will be Rookie of The Year without a doubt and he also added that he already has the trophy. He added that, although he does believe in his son winning the award, it is not about Lonzo as much as it is about the team. Ball also reassured his stance that the Lakers are going to make the playoffs.

Lonzo Ball had a tough debut for the Lakers in the Summer League. In the game against the Clippers, Ball struggled mightily, going two-for-15 from the field, scoring only five points. In addition to that, he had five assists, four rebounds, two steals, a block and three turnovers.
