On Wednesday morning, the Los Angeles Lakers held their much-anticipated individual workout with UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball.

Following the closed-off 75-minute workout session, Ball spoke to the media. At one point, he voiced his strong desire to be taken by the Lakers with the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft later this month.

Throughout the entire pre-draft process, Ball has continued to stay the course with his preference to land with his hometown franchise. Wednesday was his first opportunity to get a first-hand look at the organization and their practice facility. The night before, Ball had dinner with the front office and coaching staff, and he also had lunch with the Buss family after his morning workout and media session.

Lonzo's response regarding why he believes the Lakers should take him was also intriguing. He repeatedly stated that he can be a leader and run the floor as their starting point guard.

Ball is coming off a strong freshman campaign at UCLA, where he led the nation with 7.6 assists per game while setting the school's single-season record with 274 total assists. He was the primary catalyst to UCLA's success, finishing the year with a 31-5 record behind an offense that led the country in scoring with 90.4 points per game and 51.9 percent shooting from the field.

Although there have been various reports that the Lakers are not completely sold on Ball, his workout on Wednesday may have provided the organization with much-needed clarity on what he could bring to the team, both on and off the court.
