Luka Doncic is the perfect blank canvas, explains Mavs coach God Shammgod
Luka Doncic has the potential to be one of the all-time greats if he continues on the current path he is on with the Dallas Mavericks. God Shammgod, the legendary ball-handler and current assistant for the Mavericks, had high praise for Doncic during an appearance on the Cruz Control podcast.
“Luka ill with it. Luka is a person like if you are a painter and somebody gave you a blank canvas. This canvas has all the potential to be whatever you want it to be. Luka is that. He has all this talent that any little thing I give him, any big thing I give him, he takes it to the next level. It is like from one year to the next us changing his angles and telling him different angle points, all you got to do is tell him one time and next you thing you know he is doing it.”
Everyone can watch the entirety of Shammgod’s interview on Youtube, where he speaks about the Mavericks, his own career, and Doncic.
In just two seasons with the Mavericks, Doncic has become one of the premier players in the NBA. The Slovenia native has evolved into a true point-forward, prompting comparisons to LeBron James early in his career.
Doncic’s ability to facilitate the ball and score in a variety of ways has made him one of the toughest players to defend. Just this past season, Doncic averaged 28.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game, leading the Mavericks to the postseason.
At just 21 years old, Luka Doncic’s journey in the NBA is just getting started, which is scary for opposing teams. Shammgod, who was a gifted player in his own right, believes the sky is the limit for Doncic moving forward.
