Toronto is no longer Josh Donaldson’s home as a professional athlete, but the Minnesota Twins slugger still wants to go out there and help the Toronto Maple Leafs get out of their current slump. Here’s Donaldson in troll mode, Maple Leafs threads and all.

Thank you to the @MapleLeafs for giving me the opportunity tonight to start in my first NHL game!! I’ll be the first two way player to play in the MLB and NHL. Momma we made it.

While he’s at it, Donaldson should have also tried on some goalie pads because the Maple Leafs do seem to need someone who can actually turn away shots between the pipes.

The Maple Leafs are 3-4-1 after eight games. They suffered a four-game losing streak that finally came to an end on Wednesday with a 3-2 overtime win over the Chicago Blackhawks on the road. Still, the bad taste of a poor start lingers in the Maple Leafs’ mouth. The team is one of the worst in the NHL in scoring goals — just 2.00 goals per game — and on defense. They are allowing 3.13 goals per game.

Donaldson isn’t going to be the Messiah for the Toronto, but at least he’s given the team's fans something to laugh about during these trying times.
