Jim Larranaga is weaving his magic again in March. The legendary head coach of the Miami Hurricanes has just steered the program to another Sweet Sixteen appearance after beating the Indiana Hoosiers Sunday night, 85-69.

Never before had Miami made that deep of a run in the NCAA tournament in consecutive seasons, but it's now a reality for the team, thanks mainly to Larranaga.

“Miami is in the Sweet 16 in back-to-back seasons for the first time EVER. This is Jim Larranaga's 5th trip to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament,” per Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

The goal for Miami basketball is to win it all in the tournament — and also to better their finish in 2022 when they reached the Elite Eight portion of the tourney. The Hurricanes were stopped in their tracks then by eventual national champs, Kansas Jayhawks, but appear to be a much better team this time around, as evidenced by the fact that Miami had just won the ACC regular season title.

Against Indiana, Miami leaned on the big game of Isaiah Wong, who went off for 27 points. Norchad Omier also came up huge for the Hurricanes as he had seven points and 17 rebounds, ensuring his team will win the glass battle by a wide margin, 48-31.

Larranaga is perhaps best known for his run with the George Mason squad that had a historic Cinderella experience in 2006 when the Patriots reached the Final Four as a No. 11 seed.

Larranaga and Miami will next face No. 1 Houston Cougars on Friday in Kansas City.
