Russell Westbrook’s five-emoji reaction on UCLA upset of Alabama
The UCLA Bruins are still dancing in March, and one of the best players to come out of the school’s program is rightfully celebrating the latest victory. The 11th seed Bruins needed five extra minutes, but they eventually completed the upset of second seed Alabama Crimson Tide, 88-78 on Sunday to advance to the Elite Eight.
The last time UCLA was in the Elite Eight was in 2008 when the squad advanced all the way to the Final Four. And who was the leader of that stacked roster? Washington Wizards guard Russell Westbrook, who teamed up with the likes of Kevin Love, Darren Collison, and Luc Mbah a Moute in their deep NCAA Tournament run.
Westbrook, of course, was quick to celebrate UCLA’s huge win against Alabama, posting a five-emoji reaction on his Instagram story.
Westbrook, who played at UCLA for three years, remains as one the biggest Bruins products alongside Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Walton, and Reggie Miller just to name a few.
Against the heavily favored Alabama, UCLA had a balanced effort, led by Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Jules Bernard, who both finished with 17 points. David Singleton, meanwhile, had 15 markers, while Johnny Juzang and Tyger Campbell had 13 apiece.
Up next for the Bruins are the top seed Michigan Wolverines, which they face on Tuesday with a spot in the Final Four up for grabs.
Westbrook and the Wizards, meanwhile, are coming off a 106-92 win over the Detroit Pistons and currently hold a 16-28 record, six games behind the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference.
