Dallas Mavericks forward Dwight Powell and Mavs great Dirk Nowitzki traded jokes after it was announced that the latter's iconic one-legged fadeaway will be silhouetted on both ends of the American Airlines Center.

Powell poked fun at Nowitzki for not being able to move quickly last season, his final year in the NBA. Dirk responded by saying that he can't wait until Dwight gets cut by the team.

Nowitzki probably had the last laugh there. That rebuttal gotta hurt.

The Mavs' unveiling of Nowitzki logos in AAC is just one of the team's ways to show their appreciation for the German's 21 years of service to the team. Team owner Mark Cuban and Dallas city officials have also collaborated on pushing for one of the streets near the arena to be named after the one-time champion.

Dirk is one of five players to suit up for only one franchise for at least 18-plus seasons, joining John Stockton (Utah Jazz), Reggie Miller (Indiana Pacers), Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers) and Tim Duncan (San Antonio Spurs). He also briefly held the record for the most seasons played in the NBA (21), but it was broken last month when Vince Carter announced that he would re-sign with the Atlanta Hawks for his 22nd and final year.

Nowitzki is one of the most iconic and influential players not only in the US but also in the international basketball scene. With that said, it is only fitting for the Mavs to give him a ton of recognition because he rightfully deserves it.

As for Powell, let's wait and see what happens to him within two years.
