The Dallas Mavericks have a lot of cap room available after reports emerged pertaining to Jalen Brunson's decision to sign with the New York Knicks. This is going to be a tough pill to swallow for the Mavs, but they will need to move on. Right now, they're doing just that, with their first free agency signing coming in the form of four-time NBA champion JaVale McGee.

This report comes via Shams Charania of The Athletic:

Free agent JaVale McGee has agreed to a three-year, $20.1 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks, with player option for third season, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

This is a big win for the Mavs after several teams were linked to McGee in free agency. After a noteworthy season with the Phoenix Suns last season where he averaged 9.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 15.8 minutes per game, a handful of teams registered their interest in the 7-foot veteran. Dallas emerged victorious in the race, though, and they have now just added a key piece to their frontcourt.

It also sounds like the Mavs aren't done just yet. Goran Dragic has been heavily linked to a move to Dallas, and Brunson's exit could open the door for him. The former All-Star has close ties with countryman Luka Doncic, so it wouldn't be surprising if Dragic ends up with the Mavs in the near future.
