Dallas Mavericks three-point specialist JJ Redick was traded to the team at the deadline but has yet to take the court due to a heel issue. However, he  had a candid reply regarding his possible Mavs debut against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, per Brad Townsend:

Seems slightly snarky from Redick, but he does have a point. The Mavs have won six of their last seven games, including one over the league-leading Utah Jazz. The remark does not necessarily mean he does not want to finally play again, as he seemed pumped up during his first practice with the team.

Redick provides spacing and a steady veteran presence to a young Dallas team. As much firepower as the Mavs have, they are prone to going on cold streaks, especially from deep. Redick can come off the bench and hit a couple of crucial deep bombs. Hopefully, he finds his form in Dallas as he was just averaging 8.7 points a game with a 36.4% clip from downtown with the Pelicans.

Redick has missed several games due to heel issues. It has been a rough couple of years for the veteran sharpshooter. Since being drafted by the Orlando Magic back in 2006, he has been to the postseason every year. This impressive streak included stops with the Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers, but it came to an end last year with New Orleans

This season, after discussions with the New Orleans front office, he was expecting a trade to one of the Northeastern teams, like the Boston Celtics or Brooklyn Nets. He would be closer to his family this way. Instead, he got sent way down south to the Lone Star State.
