Luka Doncic has finally made it out of the first round of the NBA playoffs. The Dallas Mavericks are headed to the Western Conference Semi-Finals after staving off the Utah Jazz.

The Mavs star was able to overcome his demons with a 24-point performance in Game 6 to close out the Jazz. After the game, Doncic spoke candidly about what he was feeling.

Via Callie Caplan:

“Just happiness, man. I think we deserve to get past the first round,” said the Mavs star.

Dallas was able to escape with a 98-96 win after Bojan Bogdanovic couldn't sink a wide-open triple with just seconds remaining on the clock.

“He doesn't miss many of those. … I thought that shot was going for 15 seconds,” Doncic said of Bogdanovic's missed game-winner.

Nobody was more proud than Mavs head coach Jason Kidd, who knew just how big the moment was for his franchise player.

“To accomplish this first series is not easy, so I hope that monkey's off his back,” said Kidd.

Luka Doncic's Mavs were previously thwarted not once, but twice against the Los Angeles Clippers – but no longer. There was no Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in these playoffs.

While Doncic would likely be down for a rematch against his former foes, this moment belongs to him and his Mavs who set up a date with the top-seeded Phoenix Suns.
