July 6 has officially been declared as the Luka Doncic Day, and the Dallas Mavericks youngster absolutely loves it.

Dallas County made the resolution on Tuesday, citing that Doncic is on his way to joining Mavs legend Dirk Nowitzki in the history books. They also cited his on and off-court contributions to the team and city before emphasizing he is an “ambassador to the game of basketball.”

Upon learning of the incredible gesture while he is on international duty, Luka Doncic took it to Twitter to thank Dallas County and all the Mavs fans who have supported him in his first three years in the NBA so far.

The Slovenian wonderboy has truly achieved a lot in his young career with the Mavs, and the honor is warranted. For what it's worth, it should also help Dallas endear itself to Doncic even more, especially ahead of his contract extension with the team.

Doncic is eligible to sign a five-year, $200 million-plus contract extension with the Mavs, and everyone hopes he'll put pen to paper soon–probably after his Tokyo Olympics stint with the national team.

There have been a lot of issues involving the Mavs and Doncic ever since their playoffs exit, but it sure looks like everything is going back to normal and stabilizing after Mark Cuban's moves to fix the front office and head coaching position–bringing in the likes of Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd in the process.
