With this coming season possibly being the last of Dirk Nowitzki's stellar NBA career, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban understands that his team will be losing more than just an all time great player, but also a consummate professional and leader as well.

The 59-year-old billionaire recently spoke with Oliver Maroney of Dime Magazine, where he shared what it's been like working with Nowitzki for the past 19 years. He recalled a yoga session they had lately as an example that perfectly sums up his work ethic.

“I took an hour long yoga class with Dirk at 9AM this morning. 3 hours later? He just finished his workout. Every one on this team sees how hard he works and how important it is to him. That’s what true leadership is. We have been working together for 19 years. It always amazes me how hard he works. First in, last out.”

At 39 years old, the German international still proved last season that he is an effective player on the court. He may have averaged the fewest minutes since his rookie year with 26.4, but he was still able to produce very decent numbers of 14.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

Should this coming season indeed be his last as a pro, there's no doubt that Nowitzki will go down as one of the best players to ever play the game, as he has won almost all awards the league has to offer. The 13-time All-Star was an NBA champion back in 2011, and also won the regular season and Finals MVP as well in his career. The Mavs will definitely miss him once he retires, and Cuban knows he is a once in a lifetime talent, and is irreplaceable in his team.
