If the Dallas Mavericks are unable to get past the current impasse with Dennis Smith Jr. that has kept him out of the lineup the past three games, a potential trade with the Orlando Magic won't be limited to a “singular focus” on any particular target, according to Mike Fisher of 247Sports.

The Mavs could dart their shot at plenty of prospects, second-tier stars, draft picks, and clients of powerful agents, making all of it in play.

A recent rumor noted shooting guard Evan Fournier could be one of the potential targets, especially with Dallas hoping to unload the contract of veteran Wes Matthews in deals before the trade deadline on Feb. 7.

One thing is sure: the Mavs' price for Smith will be high and teams will be looking to acquire him at a discount, given that sellers often lack leverage when it comes to moving their stars before a deadline.

The Mavs are reportedly looking to solve the issue with Smith, rather than looking for a way out of it by trading him after only a season and a half with the team.

Opposing front offices have taken notice of Smith's unwillingness to return to Dallas, which has had them reaching out to the Mavs in hopes to strike a deal.

The Mavs remain hesitant in making the move, but if this situation isn't resolved soon, they might just opt to deal him instead of risking keeping him on the roster for the rest of the season.

Luka Doncic has slid into the point guard spot effortlessly, but the Mavs would want to do anything in their power to keep from having only two potential floor generals on the roster since J.J. Barea is out for the remainder of the season.
