The Dallas Mavericks have not had much to celebrate so far in the 2017-18 NBA season. However, they can take solace in the fact that they finally may have started to acquire the right pieces in recent years.

Among them was signing promising, young forward Harrison Barnes, who continues to make strides as the team's go-to scorer. Barnes flexed his clutch gene tonight with a game-winning buzzer-beater over the Memphis Grizzlies.

While it is unclear whether or not Barnes called bank before the attempt, it was an impressive catch-and-shoot nonetheless. With 0.5 seconds left on the clock, he really did not have any choice but to heave up a prayer. Fortunately, it worked out nicely as the Mavericks were able to move to 4-15 on the season.

It was the cherry on top of yet another solid outing for Barnes, who finished with 22 points and nine rebounds. The Mavericks also got a stellar performance from rookie phenom Dennis Smith Jr., who finished with 17 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

It was an impressive win considering it looked as if the Grizzlies were going to run away with it early on. However, Dallas managed to shift the momentum in the second half with a huge third quarter in which they outscored Memphis 35-16.
