A new Metroid Dread trailer showcased what kind of enemies we can expect in the new game. Luckily, developers Mercury Steam have been very creative in designing the Metroid Dread enemies. Let's take a look at some of them.

The overview trailer first introduces the kit that Samus Aran has in the new world she's exploring. Her weapons and abilities are shown to be used in fighting against the new enemies in Metroid Dread. Then, halfway through the video, E.M.M.I. make an appearance again, the persistent search robots chasing Samus all around the world. Samus' normal attacks cannot penetrate their armor, which makes it easier for them to capture Samus. When that happens, it's game over. The E.M.M.I. can track Samus based on the sounds she makes. Hence, stealth is one of the focuses of the game.

Other Metroid Dread enemies were teased in the overview trailer, but not all of them were named. Mysterious aliens, monstrous and intimidating, all litter the world Samus is exploring. We get to see how they fight briefly, but most interestingly, some of these aliens seem to be sentient and belong to an ancient, near-extinct civilization, whose ruins stand tall in place of their makers.

Metroid Dread comes out on October 6, 2021 for the Nintendo Switch.
