The MMA world received the sad news on Monday when it was revealed on social media that 22-fight MMA veteran Kyle Reyes had passed away. Reyes was a member of the famous gym Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas.

Reyes was 30 at the time of passing.

Kyle Reyes had a GoFundMe set up to help pay for some of his medical expenses, including surgery for a torn bicep. It was revealed on the GoFundMe that Reyes had the surgery, but “his health went downhill, and we almost lost him.”

Reyes had an infection in his lungs, pneumonia, causing his right lung to shut down. A fever of 102 and oxygen levels at 50 caused his brain to swell, according to GoFundMe.

The infection had spread to both of his lungs and his organs were shutting down. They weren't sure how much damage his brain was receiving.

He had made progress as of Friday, but days later it was reported he had taken a turn for the worse.
