Wizards of the Coast recently announced that the MTG Secret Lair x D&D 50th Anniversary Superdrop is coming out on August 27, 2024. Here's everything fans need to know before purchasing the special drop.
MTG Secret Lair x D&D 50th Anniversary Superdrop
The MTG Secret Lair x D&D 50th Anniversary Superdrop will contain a series of five limited edition drops celebrating 50 years of the iconic fantasy tabletop role-playing game. These special drops celebrate 50 years of Dungeons & Dragons, featuring iconic characters like the vampire rogue Astarion, the fierce warrior Karlach, and the ever-watchful Beholder.
Without further ado, here's a full list of all five drops coming out by the end of August:
- Secret Lair x Dungeons & Dragons: An Exhibition of Adventure
- Secret Lair x Dungeons & Dragons: Astarion's Thirst
- Secret Lair x Dungeons & Dragons: Karlach's Rage
- Secret Lair x Dungeons & Dragons: Death is in the Eyes of the Beholder I
- Secret Lair x Dungeons & Dragons: Death is in the Eyes of the Beholder II
For almost 50 years, Dungeons & Dragons has captivated fans with its unique gameplay, bringing friends and family together in fantasy adventures. The World's Greatest Roleplaying Game has amassed over 50 million fans, who have enjoyed it through video games, novels, comics, roleplaying games, and accessories. Now with this epic celebration, fans can look back at the past five decades of D&D through Magic: The Gathering cards.
Price
For clarity, each drop listed above contains its own set of cards. With that in mind, fans can expect five to six cards per drop. For example, the Secret Lair x Dungeons & Dragons: Astarion's Thirst drop is likely to contain cards that represent Astarion or are at least related to the vampire. However, there is a possibility that a few cards might not be related to the drop at all. For now, all we can do is wait until Wizards of the Coast reveal all the cards.
As for their price, each drop will cost $29.99. A Foil Edition of each drop will also be available at $39.99 each.

Revealed Cards
As of the time of this writing, Wizards of the Coast has revealed only two cards coming to the set. These two cards are reprints from the Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate set, which came out in 2022.
As the days go by, more cards will slowly be revealed to the fans. In the meantime, here's a first look at the two reprints coming to the MTG Secret Lair x D&D 50th Anniversary Superdrop.
Astarion, the Decadent
Astarion, the Decadent is a six-cost (four generic, one white, and one black) legendary creature with Deathtouch and Lifelink.
At the beginning of your end step, choose one —
- Feed — Target opponent loses life equal to the amount of life they lost this turn.
- Friends — You gain life equal to the amount of life you gained this turn.
Karlach, Fury of Avernus
Karlach, Fury of Avernus is a five-cost (four generic and one red) legendary creature. Whenever you attack, if it’s the first combat phase of the turn, untap all attacking creatures. They gain first strike until end of turn. After this phase, there is an additional combat phase.
Choose a Background (You can have a Background as a second commander.)
