Everyone knows that professional athletes in any sport get paid with the big bucks. When we hear about star players' salaries, we might act like undrafted Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent who “fainted” upon listening to QB1 Caleb Williams talking about his $25.5-million signing bonus. Williams had won the 2022 Heisman Trophy out of USC before the Bears took him at No.1 overall at the 2024 NFL Draft.

Bagent issued his reaction in the trailer for the new season of HBO's documentary series Hard Knocks, focusing on the Bears training camp. In the video shared on X, formerly Twitter, Bagent joined his team in their hilarious reaction to Williams revealing his multimillion-dollar signing bonus.

As his teammates hollered and cheered Williams, Bagent remained seated on his chair and pretended to “faint.” It's probably an understandable reaction to hearing a co-worker and No.1  NFL overall draft pick secure the bag.

While Williams was a Heisman winner, Bagent himself is no slouch. He has made history as the first undrafted Division II rookie quarterback to start an NFL game since 1950. During his college career at Shepherd University, Bagent became the PSAC East Offensive Player of the Year and a two-time All-American. Moreover, with Bagent under center, the Bears had a record of 2-2, giving the team enough confidence to keep him on the roster in 2024.

Caleb Williams' contract

The Bears made their two first-round picks a boatload of money through their rookie contracts. Both Williams and wide receiver Rome Odunze became multimillionaires after signing their first NFL contracts. For the star quarterback, his four-year contract gives him a fully guaranteed $39.5 million with a signing bonus of $25.5 million.

Further, the widely touted Caleb Williams received the richest rookie contract in the entire league since the 2011 CBA forced the NFL to revamp its salary structure. This contract amounts the level of confidence and trust the Bears franchise has in Williams, a generational prospect who could lead his team to greatness. He also joins a roster ready to take the next step toward success.

Meanwhile, Odunze is guaranteed $22.7 million over the next four seasons, although he might yield some playing time to the veterans on the team. In 2024, he sits behind wideouts Keenan Allen and DJ Moore, along with seasoned tight end Cole Kmet. However, his upside makes him a valuable weapon to pair with Williams in the future.
