Euroleague superstar Luka Doncic has dropped from being a top-two prospect to the outside of the top-three of this year's NBA Draft, as other prospects have been able to work out and interview with teams ahead of mid-June, while Doncic remains overseas.

The likes of DeAndre Ayton, Jaren Jackson Jr., Mo Bamba, and Wendell Carter Jr. have picked up plenty of steam over the past two weeks, while Doncic remains in Europe, playing out a best-of-five series against Baskonia, which is it were to go down to Game 5, would extend until June 22, the day after the NBA Draft.

But this hasn't discouraged other teams from rolling the dice, according to ESPN's Jonathan Givony.

“Where Doncic will be drafted remains a significant point of interest heading into the NBA draft. He is currently projected to be picked No. 4 in the latest ESPN Mock draft. He remains under consideration at No. 2 and No. 3”

“A number of teams have also made inquiries about the possibility of trading into the top three, with an eye on picking Doncic. Those conversations are expected to become more serious in the coming week.”

Only weeks ago, Doncic was presumably a target to go No. 1 overall to the Phoenix Suns, but as days have passed, it looks more likely that they will address their frontcourt woes and take Ayton with their top overall selection.

Ayton made that even more clear, confirming to reporters that he believes he will indeed go No. 1.

Doncic is likely the most polished product out of the bunch, having played professional basketball for years now, facing stiffer and more mature competition than any of these college standouts have during their time in the NCAA.
