As the NBA Draft approaches, college players around the U.S. are debating whether to stick it out as a student for another year or try their hand in the biggest basketball league in the world. USC's Kevin Porter Jr. is the latest to declare for the draft, Jonathan Givony of ESPN reports.

The athletic, lengthy guard was listed as the 40th best prospect of the 2019 class. He had an up and down season for the Trojans, posting averages of 9.5 points, four rebounds, and 0.8 steals per game while shooting 51 percent from the floor.

Even though he was highly touted coming out of Rainier Beach High School, Porter started only four games for USC and saw most of his minutes coming off the bench.

Part of the reason for the lack of starts was a thigh injury that forced Porter to miss two months of playing time. However, Porter has proven that he can be an intriguing prospect after having a solid season.

Even more impressive is the fact that the Trojan freshman is only 18 years old. Teams might be willing to take a chance on the young guard in hopes that he can reach his high ceiling after a few years of NBA experience.

Porter is certainly in good hands after signing with Roc Nation, Jay-Z's sports management company. The organization also manages NBA players such as the Golden State Warriors' Kevin Durant and the San Antonio Spurs' Rudy Gay.

It'll be interesting to see where Porter ends up on draft night, and which team is willing to risk developing the promising prospect for a few seasons.
