Al Horford might not be making a lot of noise like the other top-tier free agents, but the veteran power forward might eventually get a lucrative deal this summer.
According to Ramona Shelburne and Brian Windhorst of ESPN, several teams were intrigued after Horford opted out of the final year of his contract with the Boston Celtics to become a free agent this summer. There is reportedly a strong demand for Horford, which makes it likely for him to get a new deal above $100 million in free agency.
The Dallas Mavericks and the New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly interested in adding Horford. Both teams are looking to add a veteran to bolster their relatively young roster. The Mavs will be bannered by Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, while the Pelicans have Zion Williams, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart.
The Sacramento Kings could also be in the mix for the center this summer, especially with disgruntled big man Willie Cauley-Stein asking the team for a change of scenery. The Kings will have enough cap room to sign Horford even if they keep their own free agent, Harrison Barnes.
The Philadelphia 76ers are also mentioned as a potential landing spot for Horford. However, the Sixers are expected to focus on keeping their own free agents — Tobias Harris, Jimmy Butler and JJ Redick.
