Former NBA superstar Chris Webber gave his take on University of Michigan's decision to hire Juwan Howard as the new head coach of their men's basketball program.

Howard, who worked as an assistant coach for the Miami Heat since 2013, was named as the new man at the helm in Ann Arbor. Michigan had to find a replacement head coach after veteran mentor John Beilein made the jump to the big league, signing a five-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

During an interview on NBA TV, Webber said that there is no better man than Howard to continue what Beilein started. The two-time NBA champion and one-time NBA All-Star is a proud product of Michigan. He was a member of the fabled Fab Five along with Webber, Jalen Rose, Ray Jackson, and Jimmy King.

Webber is confident that Michigan is in good hands, saying that it was a dream come true for his former teammate. He believes that Howard did not get the job only because he is a Michigan product, but also because he worked hard for it and he has the passion to do great in Ann Arbor.

“He is passionate. He wants to be in Ann Arbor,” Webber said. “He wants to raise young man, and recruit young man. He wants to win, and so for me, it is awesome.”
