Ever since making a big comeback to the scene almost a year ago, Puma has continued to work its way up to the upper ranks in the highly-profitable basketball shoe market. One of their big-name signings was no less than the legendary God Shammgod — creator of the famed Shammgod crossover which continues to occasionally show itself in the NBA today.

According to Shammgod, who is now an assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks, he has been in discussion with Puma to come out with his own signature shoe.

“I’ll have my own shoe coming out with Puma – the Shammgod shoe – so I’m just very excited,” Shammgod said, via Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype. “I think the people who watched me when they were growing up are going to be very excited and happy with the product.”

Shammgod is not exactly a household name but is a bit of a cult hero with an underground appeal. While the younger generation of basketball fans may not be familiar with the former Washington Wizards point guard (he only played 20 games with the Wizards in the 1997-98 season, by the way), there are still a good number of fans who will likely show some interest in this upcoming signature shoe line.

Puma has invested a boatload of money in its attempt to compete with the likes of Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour, and surely, this move was a calculated risk that will probably benefit the brand in the long run.
