JJ Redick knows very well he can still contribute to an NBA team, but he is in no rush to find a new home. In fact, he has no plans to look or sign with a franchise before the new campaign starts.

In a recent episode of his The Old Man and The Three podcast, Redick revealed his free agency plans and noted that it's likely he'll assess the situation during the 2021-22 season before making a decision on which team he'll want to join. He also emphasized his desire to join a title contender in what could be his last chance to compete for the Larry O'Brien trophy.

“Just taking my time I feel no rush to make any sort of decision on next season. And I felt that way when the season ended, and I feel that way now. My focus right now is just hanging with my family and enjoying the offseason,” the veteran NBA sharpshooter shared, per 247 Sports. “And we'll make a decision on next season—what team, what city, etc.—probably sometime in the next two or three months. But, you know, I would say, pretty much definitively, like, I won't be in a training camp to start the season. That's not gonna happen. So, you know, I'll join a team at some point this season and finish the year and try to go get a chip. That's the plan.”

Last season, JJ Redick saw the lowest production he has had in 11 years. He averaged just 7.4 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in a split time with the New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks. Moreover, he was really unable to make an impact for the Mavs after he missed the final three regular season games and the rest of the playoffs due to a heel injury.

Considering his injury and age, it is undoubtedly wise for Redick to wait and see which is the best team he can join to win the NBA title. At 37 years old, he doesn't have much time left to consistently play at a high level, so he needs to decide carefully.

It remains to be seen in which team Redick will end up with, but he'll surely be a sought-after player given the leadership and shooting he brings.
