Transitioning from the NBA to golf is paying off for JR Smith. The two-time NBA champion just showed off his newest ride on social media. He elicited a ton of reactions from fans and haters alike.

Remember that a couple of months ago, Smith made headlines after signing a groundbreaking NIL (i.e., name, image, and likeness) deal with popular activewear brand Lululemon. As such, the 36-year-old Smith became the brand's very first male golf ambassador.

Golf?

Yes. Remember that Smith is also currently a full-time student-athlete at the North Carolina A&T State University. He is pursuing a degree in liberal arts and reportedly earned a 4.0 GPA in his first semester. He is also a member of the Aggies golf team.

This seems like a terrific turnaround story for someone like Smith, who skipped college to join the 2004 NBA Draft. He was then picked 18th overall by the New Orleans Hornets. He joined the likes of Dwight Howard, Shaun Livingston, Sebastian Telfair, and Josh Smith as some of the prep-to-pro players in that draft.

Smith had a colorful pro career. He played for five different NBA clubs and even one season in China for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls. Perhaps his most memorable season, however, was the 2015-2016 campaign. That's when he played a pivotal role as the Cleveland Cavaliers won their first-ever NBA title. They rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the 2016 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors.

Despite all his achievements, however, Smith still has some haters. Some people have taken shots at his being a 30-something college student despite his success on the court, in the classroom, and on the golf course.

Well, instead of dwelling on the haters, Smith is living his life, upgrading his ride, and maxing out his GPA.
