Forward Marreese Speights could potentially return to the NBA after playing in China last season. Per Marc Spears of ESPN, Speights is working out for NBA teams in Las Vegas in hopes of potentially landing on a roster:

Speights is a veteran stretch forward who last played in the NBA for the Orlando Magic. During that season, he averaged 7.7 points and shot 45 percent from the field and 37 percent beyond the arc. Overall, Speights has played for six different teams for a total of 11 seasons.

Statistically, his best season came in 2014-15, while with the Golden State Warriors. The big man averaged 10.4 points and 3.4 boards while coming off the bench for the eventual champions.  He was a key piece for the team, playing in 72 regular season games and 10 playoff games.

While he is certainly past his prime playing days, Speights could provide some veteran leadership and eat up some minutes in lopsided games. It's doubtful that he can make a significant statistical impact on any team, but one team could offer him a veteran's minimum and hope he can help the young players grow.

The Atlanta Hawks could take a flyer on Speights' services. They have plenty of young talent that could benefit from a veteran champion's presence. Only time can tell whether Speights' workout will be impressive enough for an NBA team to scoop him up before the season starts.
