Duke forward Zion Williamson has already impressed plenty with his play in high school and showcased plenty of his talents as a freshman in college, yet his aspirations for greatness are on an all-time high level. Williamson expressed his willingness to be like Michael Jordan, but in a very unique way:

“Growing up my favorite player was Michael Jordan,” said the freshman Blue Devil, according to Michael Scotto of The Athletic. “For those who may just think Michael Jordan was an offensive player he was a great defender and won DPOY. I'm just striving to be like that. As well as I am on offense, I want to be the same on defense.”

The Duke forward has learned to grow an appreciation from Jordan's less-lauded side of his exploits as one of the NBA's greats, an award he didn't garner until he was challenged by his opponents and critics, who claimed he was only an offensive superstar.

Jordan made a loud statement by bagging his first scoring title in 1987 and coming back the next season to do it again, including a Defensive Player of the Year award, rounding out his dominance on both sides of the floor.

Williamson's athletic prowess has shown to be out of this world, despite reportedly weighing a whopping 285 pounds entering the season. His thunderous dunks and show-stopping blocks have him among the top choices heading into the 2019 NBA Draft, making the 6-foot-7 stud one NBA GMs are salivating to get their hands on come draft night, as he figures to be a once-in-a-lifetime talent like Jordan was in that 1984 NBA Draft.
