Rumors surrounding Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, two of the most media-jocked players in the league, potentially playing together has been the tea most NBA fans have been sipping on throughout the course of the season. The newest gossip is that the Golden State Warriors forward has been actively communicating with the Boston Celtics star for a while now, closer than they've ever been before.

Per ESPN's Brian Windhorst of The Hoop Collective:

“I’ve had someone reputable this week tell me their relationship is as strong as ever, that Durant and Kyrie talk every day and, if not, text every day.”

The link between Irving and Durant was made from way early this season when it was first rumored the two would potentially stage a partnership in New York by the way of the Knicks. Durant already has strong links to the city that never sleeps due to his manager and business partner Rich Kleiman, while Irving has always loved the buzz of a big-time city, as a native of New Jersey, only hours from Madison Square Garden.

The two were later seen having a conversation in the halls of the Spectrum Center during the All-Star Weekend, which enticed the very best of Twitter and Instagram's lip-reading extraordinaires to concoct their best attempt at figuring out what they were talking about.

While Irving meanly dismissed inquiring reporters, Durant would do the same, but not before calling Irving “one of my best friends” — something that struck as news to most people unfamiliar to his link to the Celtics star.

Per Windhorst's report, that seems to be pretty true if they indeed keep in touch that often through the tail end of this season.
