Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard, throughout his NBA career, has continued to show and voice his strong connection to his hometown of Oakland.
In the last several months, Lillard has continually taken shots at the Golden State Warriors over social media. This time it was the Trail Blazers taking a jab at the Warriors because of their expected move to San Francisco once their new arena opens up.
.@Dame_Lillard is more Oakland than a team that's moving to SF. https://t.co/ewVmCp0F9v

This is likely a message that Damian Lillard would approve as he has already commented on the Warriors' new jerseys that include a tribute to Oakland which the 27-year-old already has tattooed on his chest. It just adds more fuel to the fire for him to further represent his hometown where he was born and raised.
The Warriors have resided in Oakland since 1971 and have created a strong connection with the local fan base that has only grown stronger with their rise to the top of the league. However, the team is expected to move to their new arena located in San Francisco before the 2019-20 season.
It could create a potential disconnect from the fans in Oakland because of the move, but the Warriors' current roster has them in position to compete for an NBA title for the next several seasons. Ultimately, this may just be a move to create more buzz heading into next season.
