Without the services of Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, the Boston Celtics took the Cleveland Cavaliers to seven games in the Eastern Conference Finals. And though their fate was unfortunate, several members of the team, including Al Horford, are feeling confident about the future.
As most hoops fans know, the Celtics lost Hayward on opening night to a rather gruesome leg injury. Irving, who recently underwent knee surgery to remove two screws in his left patella, was also out against the Cavs, which left Horford as the C's No. 1 option (more or less).
Horford logged 40 big minutes in Sunday's game, scoring 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field, four rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Following Sunday night's Game 7 loss, Horford spoke to members of the media with regards to a healthy Celtics team.

“We can’t think about what could have been, but when Kyrie is on our team we’re at another level,” Horford told Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe.
The Celtics led by as many as 12 points in the first half, but failed to seal the proverbial deal in the second. Though their season is over, head coach Brad Stevens says he enjoyed the ride.
“It was pretty incredible run by an incredible group of guys, and an absolute pleasure and privilege to be around them every day,” Stevens told ESPN. “We obviously have a good thing going.”
All things considered, this was an extremely impressive season for Boston. Horford is right, though. With Kyrie Irving and Gordan Hayward healthy, the Celtics really will be on another level.
