New Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter was ready to clap back at Fox Sports 1 personality Nick Wright, who called him a “disaster” when analyzing the turnaround the Celtics had after the departures of Kyrie Irving, Al Horford, and Terry Rozier.

“The Boston Celtics' plan was Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, Al Horford. That has turned into Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker, Enes Kanter,” said Wright. “That's a disaster.”

“Enes Kanter for Al Horford is a disaster.”

Wright argued that the Celtics downgraded defensively by losing out on Horford and basically swapping him for a center that's known as one of the worst defenders at his position.

During an earlier run, Wright argued that teams would basically pick-and-roll Kanter until he's taken off the floor by Brad Stevens, and that the reason Kanter has never been in a good team or played heavy minutes is because of his defensive liability.

Kanter did not want to hear any of it, instead picking on Wright' new hair plugs.

Wright has said plenty of disparate things on his show, but this one has a point.

The Celtics won't be the same defensively while Kanter is on the floor, unless he becomes a better defender under Stevens. Boston lost nothing defensively in letting Kyrie Irving go, but did manage to salvage a sign-and-trade that landed them Kemba Walker, an elite, capable point guard that can score in bunches.

Boston had strides to make to return to being a prominent defensive powerhouse, but it will be up to Kanter to fix his narrative as a poor defender by improving at that end of the floor with his new team.
