Losing Javonte Green is not going to be too tough a pill to swallow for the Boston Celtics in the basketball sense. As it turns out, however, Green is actually one of Jayson Tatum's closest friends in the team.
With that said, Tatum admitted that he was devastated upon learning the news that his buddy was on his way out. According to the Celtics star, he “didn't see that coming.”

Jayson Tatum's sentiments here represent the unseen facet of the trade deadline frenzy. From the outside, what we see are just pieces being moved and because of no fault of our own, we often fail to see what it means beneath the surface. It's only the players who know how difficult trades can get not only for the players being traded, but also for the teammates and friends that they leave behind.

Then again, as the Celtics superstar said, this is all just part of it.
The Celtics sent Green to the Chicago Bulls as part of a three-team trade. Daniel Theis also made the move to Windy City. In exchange, Boston received Luke Kornet from the Bulls, as well as Moritz Wagner from the Washington Wizards. The Beantown team also received cash as part of the deal.
Javonte Green averaged 13.8 minutes off the bench this season, putting up 4.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. He may not have been a key cog for the Celtics, but it is clear that he built some lasting relationships with his now-former teammates in Boston.
