Jayson Tatum had himself a first half to remember in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, and he made sure it stays immortalized in Boston Celtics history.
Tatum was scorching hot in the first half, pouring in 21 points and five threes, a far cry from the 12 points he had in the first contest. The Celtics star has proven himself time and again in this postseason run, putting up big-time scoring performances just like this one.
That consistent production all series now has him over the 500-point mark in total playoff points this season, which is just the fourth time in Celtics history that's ever happened.
Jayson Tatum (511) has now eclipsed 500 points in the 2022 NBA Playoffs.

Not only that, but he also became the youngest Celtics player to ever do it, and by a wide margin at that. Larry Bird did it in his age-27 season. Jayson Tatum is still just 19 24 years old.

But if there's one record that Celtics fans hope Jayson Tatum can match from Larry Bird, it's the number of championship banners he's helped raise in Boston. Larry Bird was 24, just like Tatum is right now, when he won his first ever ring in his sophomore season. At this point in the campaign, matching that feat is the only thing that matters.
