The Boston Celtics fell to the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night, but they had a clear opportunity to win on the final possession of the game. After the game, Kemba Walker discussed his forgettable performance and his missed game-winning shot against the Lakers, via The Athletic's Jay King.

“I’m not even a player like that to really get frustrated,” Walker said, via The Athletic's Jay King. “I’m more smiling, and I wasn’t that tonight. I got into my own head and mentally I hurt myself. And I can’t — can’t — do that for this team. These guys look to me, especially when things are going tough, these guys look at me and I can’t put my head down and not mentally be engaged into the game like I was tonight. I got to be better on that end.”

Following an and-one opportunity from Dennis Schroder, the Lakers held a 96-89 lead over the Celtics with under two minutes remaining. But Boston wouldn't go away without making the game interesting as Jayson Tatum nailed two clutch shots down the stretch, making it a 96-95 game with nearly 30 seconds left.

On the final possession for Los Angeles, Anthony Davis was posted up on the wing, only to have the ball stolen by Walker. After a few passes, the ball ended up back in Walker's grasp, and he chose to take a mid-range jumper that failed to go in.

With his miss at the end of regulation, Walker finished the night with four points on 1-12 shooting, including five misses from the three-point line. If the Celtics hope to cement themselves as contenders in the Eastern Conference, Walker will have to perform better in big games.
