For the first time in his NBA career, Tristan Thompson is on the move and will join a different team when the season starts. The 29-year-old Thompson reportedly agreed to a two-year, $19 million deal with the Boston Celtics after spending his first nine seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Because Thompson also happens to be the boyfriend and has a daughter with reality TV star Khloe Kardashian, he has her equally famous siblings wishing him well as he goes to Beantown:

No less than Khloe’s sister, Kim Kardashian, wished Thompson well, posting a picture of the former Cavaliers big man wearing a Celtics jersey, and even implying that they may make the trip to Boston to watch some of their games.

Thompson, the fourth overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Cavaliers, was part of the historic Cleveland team that came back from a 3-1 series deficit against the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals to win the title and end the city’s 52-year championship drought. The Cavaliers, however, have not made the postseason since LeBron James’ departure to the Los Angeles Lakers, winning a combined 38 games in the last two seasons.
In the 2019-2020 season, Thompson’s ninth as a Cavalier, he averaged 12.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 51.2% from the field and 39.1% from beyond the arc. Now, he will likely see a return to the playoffs as he joins a Celtics team featuring big men Daniel Theis, Robert Williams, Grant Williams, and Tacko Fall after they were defeated by the Miami Heat in seven games in the Eastern Conference Finals.
While Boston has a bunch of big men on the roster, the franchise still wanted an upgrade in the middle. Thompson will provide a boost as the Celtics look to take the next step.
