Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving will be held out of Wednesday night's game against the New York Knicks due to a right quad contusion, according to a report from ESPN's Chris Forsberg.

Irving has played well through the first half of this season. In his 48 appearances with the Celtics this season, the former No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 Draft has turned in averages of 24.9 points on 48.6 percent shooting from the field (40.2 percent from beyond the arc), 5.0 assists, and 3.7 rebounds.

Shane Larkin (right knee soreness) is listed as questionable. With Irving ruled out against the Knicks, Terry Rozier will likely see his workload increase.
