Boston Celtics backup point guard Terry Rozier is expecting a big Game 3 performance from star point guard Kyrie Irving on Friday.
The Celtics lost Game 2 to the Milwaukee Bucks by 21 points and Irving had a woeful game. The All-Star only put up nine points in 30 minutes while shooting 4-of-18 from the field and 1-of-5 from beyond the arc.
Rozier is confident Irving is going to atone for his Game 2 performance by putting on a show in Game 3 in front of the Boston crowd.
“I’m expecting him to go crazy tonight,” Rozier said of Irving, via Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports Boston. “That’s all I’m going to say. No predictions, just expect him to go crazy, just go out there and put us on his back.”
The Celtics won Game 1 in Milwaukee, stealing home-court advantage from the Bucks. Boston needs to win both Games 3 and 4 at home to keep it.
Irving is averaging 20.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 7.7 assists in the 2019 playoffs. The Celtics' best player is shooting 42.1 percent overall, 38.9 percent from the 3-point line and 88.2 percent from the charity stripe.
Irving scored 37 points in Game 2 against the Indiana Pacers in the first round. Celtics fans are hoping Uncle Drew will have a stellar outing in Game 3 so Boston can take a 2-1 lead in the series.
