After being forced to exit Monday's match due to a hand injury, Gordon Hayward will be able to suit up for the Charlotte Hornets when they take on the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.

This report comes via Marc Stein of the New York Times:

This is great news for Hayward, who reaggravated his hand injury on Monday night. He's not exactly the most durable player around, so any injury — especially one that is tagged as a “re-aggravation” — has become quite worrisome for the 6-foot-7 swingman. It is worth noting that Hayward had surgery done on this same hand back in December.

What may come as a surprise for many is that despite his oft-injured reputation, Hayward has actually been healthy throughout the season. He's missed just two games this term and has been able to suit up for the Hornets for 28 contests already.

The change in scenery seems to have worked wonders for Hayward, with the Hornets shelling out big money to sign the former All-Star to a massive $120 million four-year contract during the offseason. He has since been playing quite well in Charlotte, with his level of performance reminiscent of his All-Star year with the Utah Jazz. It's hard to deny that the 30-year-old is currently playing some of the best basketball of his career with the Hornets.

Most significantly, Hayward's outstanding play has translated to wins for his team. They're far from a contender out East, but at 14-16, they are currently sitting at the ninth seed and are vying for a playoff spot.
