Kemba Walker basked in the chants of “MVP! MVP!” coming from the Spectrum Center after a wing 3-point attempt in crunch time hit bottom, sealing an unlikely win for the Charlotte Hornets over the Boston Celtics.
Walker was coming off a rousing 60-point effort against the Philadelphia 76ers over the weekend, one that was spoiled by a Jimmy Butler triple right before the buzzer to leave a somewhat sour taste in his mouth. The Bronx native rebounded to put on a 43-point display against the Celtics, which made his game-sealing jumper that much sweeter.
“This is my city. That’s a (expletive) bet!” Walker screamed during a stoppage of play, right before the Hornets took a 117-112 victory over the Celtics.
The two-time All-Star point guard has been unequivocally committed to remaining with the team, and recent reports indicate that majority owner Michael Jordan is “hellbent” on re-signing him in the offseason, as he's set to become a free agent in 2019.

“I think they know,” Walker said of his affection and attachment to his team and his town, according to Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer. “I’ve said it so many times. The way I play each and every night, I leave it all on the court. That’s for this organization and for this city.
“So, yeah, that’s how I show it.”
Kemba Walker leapfrogged Stephen Curry and moved into the top spot as the NBA's leading scorer with an average of 29.6 points per game, as Curry continues to sit with a groin injury that has kept him out for the last two weeks.
