Kemba Walker's 21 points on 7-of-18 shooting didn't seem like a big night for the All-Star point guard at first glance, but a reverse layup in the dying seconds of a 118-105 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers marked his place in Charlotte Hornets history, making him the franchise's all-time leading scorer.
The Bronx native surpassed sharpshooter Dell Curry for the all-time mark — 9,839 points which stood for 26 years.
“I wasn't supposed to be here,” the 6-foot-1, 184-pound Walker told the crowd moments after the game ended. “…Anything is possible. If I can do it, anybody can.”
It's not far-fetched to think Walker could even break the 10,000-point milestone before the season ends, needing only an average of 26.7 points per game during the last six games to make that a reality.
The floor general received massive praise from team owner Michael Jordan, who knows a thing or two about achieving greatness.

Walker was even showered with praise by his opponent, LeBron James, who went over to congratulate him following the game.
“Listen, if you can be the all-time leading scorer in any franchise, that's incredible,” James said, according to The Associated Press. “That's an incredible feat. I definitely went over and just told him how incredible that was. Even though with the season that they're having, when accomplishments happen throughout the season, you try not to take them for granted. I think it's an incredible feat for him.”
Walker has put two years of consistent play together, averaging 23 points per game and with a key decision to make this offseason according to the direction the franchise chooses to take for this roster.
